Everything parents usually ask before choosing a preschool in Tumkur.
If you don’t see your question here, call or WhatsApp us at +91 63629 68089
1. What is the right age to start playschool or nursery?
Children can join our Playgroup/Toddler program from 1.5 years, Nursery/Pre-K from 2.5 years, LKG (Kindergarten 1) from 3.5 years, and UKG (Kindergarten 2) from 4.5 years. Most parents in Tumkur start their child in Playgroup or Nursery so the transition from home to school happens gradually, through play rather than pressure.
2. Which localities in Tumkur does Lil Lighthouse Preschool serve?
Lil Lighthouse Preschool is located on Sri Sathya Sai Tapovanam Road, near Sri Shivakumara Swamiji Circle, and welcome families from across Tumkur — including Ashok Nagar, Batawadi, Sadashivanagar, Siddarameshwara, Jayanagar Extension, Someswarapuram, CSI Layout and Sri Nidhi Layout, most of which are within a comfortable 5 km drive of the school.
3. What is the admission process for LKG, UKG, Nursery and Playgroup?
Admission is simple: call us, WhatsApp us, or fill out the enquiry form on our Admissions page with your child’s name and age. We’ll invite you for a school visit, share the program details and fee structure, and once you confirm, complete enrollment with a few basic documents (see below).
4. What documents are required for admission?
You’ll need your child’s birth certificate, your child’s Aadhaar card, and both parents’ Aadhaar cards. Our team will guide you through any additional paperwork during your school visit.
5. What are the preschool fees at Lil Lighthouse?
Our fees are kept competitive and affordable for a Tumkur preschool, and vary slightly by program (Playgroup, Nursery, LKG, UKG or Daycare). Call or WhatsApp us at +91 63629 68089 for the current fee structure for your child’s age group — we’re happy to walk you through it.
6. What curriculum and teaching approach do you follow?
We blend ancient Indian cultural values with modern early-childhood education — drawing on the National Education Policy (NEP), Montessori, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Multiple Intelligences and Reggio Emilia approaches. Learning happens through activity, play, music and hands-on exploration rather than rote memorisation, covering language, math, the world around us, and art.
7. What is the medium of instruction?
Classes are conducted in English and Kannada, with Hindi and Sanskrit introduced as additional languages through rhymes, phonics and simple conversation — giving children an early, natural comfort with multiple languages.
8. Do you offer daycare / after-school care?
Yes. Our Daycare Facility runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, for children aged 1.5 to 12 years, with supervised recreation, activity-based learning and homework support from trained staff — a good option for working parents in and around Tumkur.
9. What are Balavikas and the music classes?
Balavikas is an optional, free character-education program built around five human values — Truth, Right Action, Peace, Love and Non-Violence — fostering unity and empathy from an early age (enrolled with parental consent). Our music classes give children a daily creative outlet through song and dance, with traditional music sessions by experienced instructors.
10. Is transport available?
We don’t currently operate a school van/bus service. Most of our families are within a short drive from neighbourhoods like Ashok Nagar, Batawadi, Sadashivanagar and Jayanagar Extension; we’re happy to discuss pooling options with nearby parents during your school visit.
11. What are the school timings?
School hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with drop-off between 8:40–8:55 AM and pick-up between 12:40–12:50 PM. Daycare extends this to 5:30 PM for enrolled children.
12. How do I book a school visit?
Simply call or WhatsApp us at +91 63629 68089, email lighthouse.tapovanam@gmail.com, or fill out the “Request a School Visit” form on our website with your name, phone number and your child’s age — we’ll get back to you to schedule a convenient time to walk around the campus.
13. Is your School recognized / approved by the Karnataka State Government?
Our school is duly recognized / approved by the Karnataka State Public Education Department
14. What are the languages you teach ?
We endeavour to teach children in Kannada and English. We also teach Hindi and introduce young minds to Sanskrit via shlokas and hymns.
15. What are the responsibilities of parents you expect?
We look forward to your participation regularly and if interested may don different roles of running the school being guided by our teachers. We would love to have you as partners for safe running of our school and look forward to your regular feedback & constructive criticisms.
